PUPPIES
At Nook On Lyne Labradors

At Nook on Lyne Labradors the ethos of any of our breeding involves dedicating an incredible amount of time & expense with the aim of breeding ethically & responsibly to pass on the desirable qualities & traits of looks, temperament, confirmation and health to all of our puppies.

We endeavour to help match puppies with their new owners by carrying out extensive Puppy Profiling for every puppy in each of our litters as what a Puppy looks like doesn't determine his or her character. We spend a huge amount of time profiling individual puppies, and by observing the puppies from the day they are born allows us to ascertain the individual reactions they show to various audio, visual and physical stimuli that the puppies are presented with over a six week period. This process allows us to gain a better understanding of each individual puppy, their temperament and traits as they develop. It allows us to determine their play & social interactions, responses and stability, smell sensitivity, sound sensitivity, touch sensitivity & sight sensitivity.

We consider the individual family dynamics of new owners and establish what it is they actually want from a puppy long term. Other important factors for consideration include any complex needs, disabilities, flights, other pets, experience and young children. We want our puppies to thrive not just survive which is why profiling and working closely with new owners is invaluable in our process. Our attention to detail, values and commitment to the puppies welfare and the owners needs ensures every puppy we raise ends up in the very best home for them in order to set everybody up to succeed. At Nook on Lyne Labradors nobody gets the last Puppy, instead, everybody gets the right Puppy.

The first 16 weeks of a puppy's life are crucial for learning & development and at Nook on Lyne Labradors we continue to distinguish ourselves through our stringent Socialisation Protocols that are in place from birth up until the puppies leave us.

Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) starts at day 3 for 14 days. ENS involves applying gentle stressors to a puppy for very short period of time, this process is thought to improve a puppy/dog's stress responses later in life. Puppies & Dogs explore the world through their olfactory system. Using ESI in a controlled manner can improve scenting ability in later life, increase confidence and reduce behavioural issues associated with scent.

Audio and visual socialisation continues once the puppies eyes and ears are open at about 2 1/2 weeks old. Our puppies are exposed to as many different visual and physical stimuli as possible together with 90 plus audio stimuli. These stimuli include different textures, surfaces, levels, recall, crate training, movement, other dogs, other people including the postman and delivery drivers, hi-viz, uniforms, glasses, hats, walking sticks, fireworks, gunshots, sirens, children playing, loud bangs as well as the usual household noises. We also offer tailored stimuli where this would be beneficial for new owners.

We have a designed a  dedicated outdoor area for our puppies to play outside when the weather is kind to us. They have a variety of different toys, textures and surfaces to allow the puppies to learn both human and canine socialisation and stimulation skills, play and learning about boundaries of behaviour.

Ensuring a puppy has good recall  is one of the most important obedience exercises you can teach them and can keep them safe in potentially dangerous situations. We start recall training at about 5 weeks of age and all puppies have excellent recall to the whistle before they leave for their new homes

Puppies are born and reared in our home together with the Puppy Development Room. They are started on a worming programme at 2 weeks old and are wormed at 2, 4, 6 & 8 weeks, they are microchipped and vet checked at 6/7 weeks at which time they will also be given their first vaccinations of DHPPI (Distemper, Hepititis, Parvovirus, Parainfluenza)   together with Leptospirosis 2 or 4 dedending on your vets recommendations for your geographical area.

They are weighed daily for the first 2 weeks to ensure adequate daily weight gain, then weekly until they are 8 weeks old.

At Nook On Lyne Labradors we take nutrition very seriously by weaning our puppies onto Eden Puppy Cuisine https://www.edenpetfoods.com/shop/for-dogs/food-for-dogs?sub-category=puppy-range which according to all about dog food is the top ranking complete dry extruded food made in the UK.
Staying close to the ancestral diet by providing the optimal ratio of meat and fish to fruits, vegetables herbs, vitamins minerals, and botanicals thus creating a superior, nutritionally, balanced diet for the best start in life. The two main constituents of bone is calcium and phosphorus. As set out by the FEDIAF guidelines it is critical to ensure that your puppy is fed an adequate supply of these two minerals both absolute and relative to each other during the growth phase to ensure healthy skeletal development for large breed puppies.

With a small-scale, family-centered approach we have just two litters per year from superb extensively health tested parents allowing us to devote our full attention and resources to each litter. This approach reflects our personal commitment to maintaining the highest possible standards in breeding and ensuring the welfare of our dogs who are a huge part of our family.

Deciding to bring a puppy into your home is a huge commitment and the more time, thought and research you put into buying a Labrador Puppy from a responsible, ethical licensed breeder the better the outcome of a wonderful future together.

If after doing your research you are interested in owning a Nook On Lyne Labrador puppy and would like to be considered for a place on our waiting list for one of our limited carefully planned 2025/2026 litters then please get in contact by phone or email for a Puppy Expression of Interest Form which asks for details of yourself and the lifestyle you are able to offer a puppy.

Once we have received your completed form the next step would be to arrange a WhatsApp Video Call at a mutually convenient time for a really informal chat which will give us the opportunity to meet albeit remotely.

At this stage we can discuss in more detail your requirements and preferences in respect of a potential puppy.   It will also give you the opportunity to ask me any questions that you will inevitably have and vice versa. It will also allow you to meet our dogs and see the environment in which they are raised.

Please note this method of video call is a requirement at Nook on Lyne Labradors. We believe this is the only way a potential puppy owner can make an informed decision on whether we are the right breeder of their next puppy. It also allows us to be happy that we have carried out necessary due diligence in order to place puppies in the best possible homes. We also welcome visits in person by strict appointment.

Once you have confirmed that Nook on Lyne Labradors are your breeders of choice then a timescale needs to be established for a new puppy to join your family. You will then be added onto your chosen waiting list depending on your own preferences and pre-arranged commitments. I can promise you that a responsibly and ethically bred puppy is absolutely worth waiting for.

Once you have been placed on one of our waiting lists you will receive regular updates on the progress of that particular mating. Once the puppies are born we will be in regular contact with you via WhatsApp Video Calls together with photos and videos, this will allow you to be part of the journey of watching the puppies grow and develop over the next 8 weeks.

We pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive, bespoke and personal service to our new puppy owners from their initial contact with us through to the puppies leaving at 8 weeks old. We give a lifetime of advice and support once a puppy is welcomed into their new home and family.

By following this process, we are able to demonstrate the level of care that Nook on Lyne Labradors have put into breeding puppies with the best chance of being happy and healthy and ensuring the best outcome for a Puppy’s future.
