Nook on Lyne Labradors are a Fully Qualified 5 Star Higher Standards Licensed Kennel Club Breeders of Extensively Health Tested Pure Bred Labradors. Having been awarded a 5 Star Licence means that Cumberland County Council together with an Independent Veterinary Surgeon agree that we meet the higher welfare standards which are set by DEFRA, this helps potential new puppy owners know that we are doing our utmost to make sure your puppies and their parents are extremely happy and healthy. We also have periodic unplanned inspections by our Licensing Officer to ensure our exceptionally high standards are being maintained.

We are incredibly proud to be one of a handful of Qualified Breeders in the UK having successfully completed the nationally recognised Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Certificate in Dog Breeding, Litter Socialisation and Welfare. This groundbreaking qualification, the first ever of its kind in the UK, has been welcomed by many professionals in the pet sector as a huge step forward in animal welfare.

We are studying towards the only nationally recognised Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Diploma in Canine Nutrition in the UK. This includes Canine Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Canine Nutrition, Lifestyle Nutrition, Canine Evolution, Pet Food and The Microbiome, Immunity and Behaviour.

We are also currently studying towards an Ofqual Regulated Level 3 Diploma in Canine Care, Behaviour & Welfare.

We have completed a course in Cytology the study of canine cells including their structure, function and formation.

We have a 3 year First Aid Certificate after completing a pet first aid course delivered by our vet.

We have gained our PeddyMark Certificate of Training & Competence in microchipping dogs. The Microchipping of dogs (England) Regulation 2015 required from 6th April 2016, every dog that is older than 8 weeks must be microchipped. It is a Breeder's responsibility to ensure puppies are microchipped before they leave for their new homes.

We also undertake annual Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in order to develop new skills and enhance our current abilities in order to be the very best we can.

We are members of Responsible Dog Breeders UK, Professional Dog Breeders UK and National Register of Home Breeders where we had to demonstrate we are a small scale responsible domestic Breeder with ethical principles in place of how we work which are in line with the Animal Care College.

At Nook on Lyne Labradors we are a small, responsible breeders of solely Labrador Retrievers with an unwavering dedication to ethical breeding with the welfare of our dogs and puppies at the forefront of our breeding programme. With comprehensive health testing and ensuring we provide exceptional client support we have been recognised by LUXlife as raising the bar in the breeding industry and have been Awarded Best Pure Bred Labrador Breeder 2024 - UK which we are incredibly privileged and honoured to have received. By only having a maximum of 2 litters a year as opposed to large scale commercial breeding allows us to dedicate all our our time and resources into raising the litter to the best of our ability and the fabulous 5 Star reviews we have received on our Website shows our level of commitment. Our girls are NOT mated until they are 2 years old and mature enough to be a Mum. They have 18 months break between litters and when they are retired they are NOT re-homed but they enjoy their retirement here with us spending many hours curled up in front of the Aga or Stove, they are our family.

The ethos of any of our breeding involves dedicating an incredible amount of time & expense with the aim of breeding ethically & responsibly to pass on most importantly superb health to all of our puppies together with the desirable qualities & traits of looks, temperament & confirmation.

We work very closely with our local independent vet in respect of our dogs health and our breeding programme. Liz who specialises in house calls carries out a Comprehensive Health Assessment and Gait Evaluation of all of our dogs twice per year in order to establish that they are in perfect health. She also vet checks the puppies at home in their own familiar environment which in turn avoids unnecessary stress and reduces the potential for cross infection.

The unprecedented demand for puppies over the last few years has had serious implications on the health and welfare of many puppies with a sharp rise in avoidable Health Conditions due to unethical breeding and little or no Health Testing.

We are therefore very proud that due to this incredibly hard to find impeccable equally matched CLEAR Health Testing of BOTH Diesel and Honey ALL puppies in this litter are Guaranteed to be 100% Hereditary Clear of the tested Genetic Conditions as opposed to Hereditary Unaffected which is an unknown quantity until a puppy is DNA tested. Currently this makes this litter one of the best tested litters by parentage in the UK.Honey is a beautiful girl inside and out, she has the most amazing temperament and the most loving gentle nature, she is a pleasure to own. She has shown a fabulous ability in Obedience Classes/Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme demonstrating superb metal and physical capabilities. Her sire is an active working dog.

As with all of our girls Honey has a Bespoke Health Testing Package far superior to standard Kennel Club Recommendations in respect of Joint Assessment, DNA and Health Tests.

Honey is Extensively Health Tested having 255 CLEAR Health Tests including:

Eye Test - Clear, Hips - Clear, Elbows - Clear

The first 16 weeks of a puppies life are crucial for learning & development. With this in mind we have designed a puppy development room that allows for this window of opportunity for puppies to learn both human and canine socialisation and stimulation skills, play and learning about boundaries of behaviour.

We have extensive Litter Socialisation Protocols in place from birth with Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction (ESI) starting at day 3 for 14 days. ENS involves applying gentle stressors to a puppy for very short period of time, this process is thought to improve a puppy/dog's stress responses later in life. Puppies & Dogs explore the world through their olfactory system. Using ESI in a controlled manner can Improve scenting ability in later life, increase confidence and reduce behavioural issues associated with scent.

Socialisation continues up until the puppies leave us to ensure our puppies are exposed to as many different and relevant physical and audio stimuli as possible. Some of the physical exposure includes different textures, surfaces, levels, recall, crate training, car journeys, other dogs and people together with the audio exposure of 90 different sounds including fireworks, gunshots, sirens, children playing, dogs barking and loud bangs as well as the usual household noises. We also offer tailored stimuli where this would be beneficial for new owners.

What a Puppy looks like doesn't determine his or her character. We spend a huge amount of time profiling individual puppies, and by observing the puppies from the day they are born allows us to ascertain the individual reactions they show to various audio, visual and physical stimuli that the puppies are presented with over a six week period. This process allows us to gain a better understanding of each individual puppy, their temperament and traits as they develop. It allows us to determine their play & social interactions, responses and stability, smell sensitivity, sound sensitivity, touch sensitivity & sight sensitivity.

We consider the individual family dynamics of new owners and establish what it is they actually want from a puppy long term. Other important factors for consideration include any complex needs, disabilities, flights, other pets, experience and young children. We want our puppies to thrive not just survive which is why profiling and working closely with new owners is invaluable in our process of helping match the right Puppy to the right home and set everyone up to succeed. At Nook on Lyne Labradors nobody gets the last Puppy, instead, everybody gets the right Puppy.

These careful observations are then used to provide new owners with an individual specific tailored training plan for their new puppy to take home. These plans can then be used to continue their training at their new homes and at future Puppy Classes.

We want to ensure our puppies and new owners are fully supported when your puppy is transitioned into their new home. We do this by funding a 12 month subscription to secure your place on a remote breed specific Labrador puppy training course with Zigzag together with a funded 12 month subscription to Veterinary Expertise via VidiVet

The online Puppy training course via an App consists of 5 courses, Pre Pup, Pup Starter, Pup Master, Terrible Teens & Trick Starter

The Pup Master Course is designed for puppies over 12 weeks of age. It consists of how to build on the basics and help for new challenges you may face.
